Hans Broek
Hans Broek (1965, the Netherlands) mainly paints and draws desert landscapes and city views. His depictions of rough and deserted areas on the west coast of America are painted memories of what the artist saw during his car trips. This is about a pictorial reconstruction, about landscapes that are partly realistic and partly imaginary. Typical of the paintings of Hans Broek are not only the sober figurations and the technical control but also the enigmatic presence of places and objects who are nevertheless reflected in a concrete and clear way.
