Anton Corbijn
Anton Corbijn (1955, the Netherlands) and Berend Strik (1960, the Netherlands) collaborated on the artwork ‘Mandela Landscape’ (2011). The underlying photograph in ‘Mandela Landscape’ is a portrait of Nelson Mandela that Corbijn took in 2003. Strik edited the image with a sewing machine. This results in a double-sided artwork; the backside is showing a labyrinth of wires and stitches. Corbijn is a world-famous portrait photographer. In grainy black and white photographs he captured Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, David Bowie and many other celebrities. Corbijn also made record covers and music videos, and since 2007, has also focused on film-making.
