Hans Hovy

Hans Hovy (1953, The Netherlands) makes not only installations, sculptures and drawings but also rugs and jewellery. Flitting effortlessly between various disciplines, he picks the medium most suited to a particular question or investigation he has. Hovy’s work is inspired by everyday objects. He abstracts things he sees around him into round, flowing, principal forms that he then works into his images. Hovy's work is often in the midst of opposition; it is playful and strict at the same time and hard and heavy materials look soft and light.
