Sofie Reijerman
For me, art is a playground with endless possibilities
Sofie Reijerman (2003, Netherlands) is a visual artist who works through a play of chance and experimentation. She approaches her practice as a playground of endless possibilities: she gathers objects from her immediate surroundings and lets intuition guide her, much like grocery shopping without a list; you think you know what you need, but at home the combination turns out unexpected. By estranging everyday, often domestic objects and shifting their function, she creates images that are both familiar and puzzling. Reijerman works mainly with ceramics, combined with found materials such as marble and wood. Through her fascination with paradoxes, contradictions, irony, and duality, she explores multiple perspectives within a single work, inviting the viewer to interpret it and ask questions.
