Monika Michalko

In Monika Michalko (1982, Czech Republic) spun dream landscapes, there are echoes of the classical modernism of Malevich and Klee as well as references to Joan Miró and the brothers Gert & Uwe Tobias. The color-intensive panel paintings are also formed by trips to Egypt, India, Sri Lanka and Turkey. Michalko also integrates collected prints in her paintings and prints with typical ornaments and architectural shapes. In her surrealistic creatures and objects, the order of surface and space seems almost broken.
