Michel François

Michel François (1956, Belgium) is a conceptual artist and makes sculptures, videos, photographs, printed matter, paintings and installations. He claims no signature style but creates a web of shifting connections between his works and in each different exhibition. Central to François’ work is generating new significances for well-known images and everyday happenings, which he achieves using a range of techniques and media. By zooming in, cropping, arranging, disturbing and enlarging, the artist shunts pedestrian and familiar objects up to a new level, transforms them and loads them with new meaning. François exudes a sense of constructing fresh language in his images, as a poet does in words.
