Valentyn Odnoviun

During the last few years, Valentyn Odnoviun’s (1987, Ukraine) research has been mostly linked with historical or socially engaged events and problems through the “abstract”-looking image, working with the imagination of the viewer to create more concrete communication with the help of interpretation and conceptual thinking. Photographs in latest projects call into question the relation between what we see and what we perceive in advance of the act of recognition. These photographs as patterns and traces emphasize the borders not only of human perception, but the border where the consequences of human action meet reason.
