Matthijs Geurds

Matthijs Geurds scrutinizes people and the social codes and rules of behavior that they impose on themselves. Tongue in cheek, he parodies and paraphrases social concepts in his work. This work is an element of his graduate presentation; a playful look at a future society struggling to its feet after an apocalyptic disaster. The project developed into a treasury of inimitable objects, which not only breathe history but also create a fresh new visual language. Geurds' work seems spatial and cursory at first. The registrations of these spatial works are a work of art in themselves.
