Renske van Enckevort

Like a window looking out over a fantastical garden, 'Lost in Paradise' by Renske van Enckevort (1985, the Netherlands) offers much; fleshy pink, egg yolk yellow, turquoise and various shades of orange, green and blue form a lyrical counterpoint with its darker colors. The medieval compositional device of the arch directs the viewer’s gaze. It shows a strangely quiet world suggested in all her work; one where fragments of memories and impressions roam, slowly disintegrating as they’re tenderly caught, as if no distinction between love and loss exists.
