Klaas Kloosterboer

Choice is the constitutive element in Klaas Kloosterboer’s (1959, the Netherlands) work. Every act, every addition and every change precludes another. It’s a well-worn idea, which remains unremittingly shocking nonetheless. Though his work may come across as the product of offhanded improvisations its internal logic is, in fact, rooted in a deep consciousness of time. Thus, it proves to be not some wild experiment but a meticulous study, the desired outcome of which is always the unexpected.
