Kiki Smith
Some narratives and loves do sustain themselves, but only if they are complex enough, if they are ambiguous enough, or have enough contradictory aspects in them that they don’t become oppressive. They aren’t fixed.

Kiki Smith (1954, Germany) is a leading figure among artists addressing the human condition, the body, and the realms of spirituality and nature in work spanning mediums from sculpture, printmaking and photographs, to installation and textiles. Kiki Smith's work is about the body—about the differences between our own private perceptions of our bodies and public stereotypes of the body and sexuality. She moves beyond feminism to focus on the body affected through processes such as aging or giving birth.
