Elisa Sighicelli

Fluctuating between stillness and motion, video, sculpture and photography, Elisa Sighicelli's (1968, Italy) work scrutinizes ordinary things, in an attempt to make them intensely ordinary. Human presence is always felt but never seen, drawing the viewer into a space in which intuition falls ever so slightly short of understanding, and the formal and unconscious reach a state of equilibrium. In her work, images are revealed through light; darkness transforms reality, allowing the image to be open and suggestive.
