Jens Pfeifer

The animal seems to be central to my work. Yet I only use that animal as a metaphor; the metaphorical power of animals as part of my reflections, as carriers of information. Experience, history and time play the most important role in this.

Jens Pfeifer (1987, Germany) creates drawings, sculptures, photographs, and cut-outs that examine humanity's relationship with nature and our desire to understand the world. Growing up surrounded by forests, animals and landscapes remain a constant source of inspiration in his work. Rather than approaching nature through scientific observation, Pfeifer turns to myth, symbolism, and instinct. His works question how humans construct knowledge, suggesting that our attempts to classify and control the natural world often distance us from the complex relationships that sustain it.

Working across sculpture, drawing, photography, and paper cut-outs, Pfeifer creates visual worlds in which natural forms, geometric structures, and symbolic motifs intersect. Whether focusing on a single creature or an entire ecosystem, his work emphasizes that every living organism exists as part of a larger interconnected whole. By combining organic forms with symbols of order, beauty, and mathematical harmony, he encourages viewers to reconsider how they perceive the natural world.
