Charlotte Schleiffert (1967, the Netherlands) is inspired by the harshness of life. Her work is provocative but never vulgar. Her heroines are exotic figures such as pin-ups, hard rockers, pop idols and warriors; a mixture of people she meets out on the street and celebrities from television, magazines and books. Her work is charismatically fierce, spontaneous and dynamic, which is not only due to powerful imagery and strong color contrasts, but also to the various materials she blends effortlessly. Schleiffert paints humanity and all that it entails.
