Pip Greenaway

Pip Greenaway (2000, the Netherlands) creates immersive installations that examine how identity is shaped through performance, desire, and social expectation. Working with video, sound, and sculptural elements, she builds constructed environments in which scripted scenes and everyday situations are brought together.

Using self-made sets, costumes, and both performers and non-actors, she directs and films scenes that reflect how people move between different roles in daily life. Her work draws attention to the influence of social norms and commercial structures on how we present ourselves. By combining elements from public space with staged narratives, she reveals how behaviour is learned, repeated, and reinforced. Her installations invite viewers to consider how identity is formed and how much of what we show is shaped by external influences.
