Bart Pols

Bart Pols makes drawings, collages, paintings, sculptures and performances. His work revolves around life and exploring apparent contradictions such as life and death, love and jealousy, comedy and tragedy, sexuality and power, and concealment and display. Pols uses various techniques and materials, such as wood, ceramics, plastics, textiles and readymades, to explore these contradictions. Finding a balance between craftsmanship and amateurism, and humor is an important aspect in his work. Humor helps Pols address painful subjects and offers perspective and hope.
