Merijn Bolink

In terms of material and method, I think I am a fairly old-fashioned artist. My theme is certainly not old-fashioned, I do believe that I am in this time and I also feel related to other artists of my generation.
Merijn Bolink

Merijn Bolink (1967, Netherlands) discovers and creates as a scientist. He analyzes, deconstructs and combines elements with scientific and mathematical precision. Bolink often builds up images out of existing objects, dead animals or plants. The processes that he uses are doubling, fusion and decomposition. The resulting sculptures often reflect on the context of the original object. In all cases Bolink tries to uncover "the soul of things," as he himself says.
