Wout Berger
Photographer Wout Berger (1941, the Netherlands) is best known for his series of polluted landscapes and is inspired by the spatial qualities and charisma of the disposal areas that are transformed into recreation parks. Berger photographs the remarkable beauty of these wastelands, where nature has its way and tends to overgrow anything that humans left behind. His photographs are balanced compositions, strongly influenced by late 20th century American landscape photography. By registering landscapes in a higher resolution than the eye can observe while leaving out scale references, Berger creates an abstract image of the landscape, inviting the viewer to look beyond the surface.
