Dan Asher
Dan Asher’s (1947-2010, United States) was originally trained as a social anthropologist. He drew upon this background and his many journeys of discovery to form the basis of his oeuvre. His iceberg photographs are taken during a South Pole expedition. The viewer of these photographs gains an overwhelming sense of the immensity of these mountains of the sea and of the variety of shades of blue that glint from them. The texture of the ice, and the compositional frames Asher has chosen, give his works remarkable layers.
