Uwe Poth
Everything in the world is always there, including the past. You just have to be open to it. That's what I want to show with my work.

Uwe Poth (1946, Germany) is a German-Dutch visual artist. His extensive and multifaceted body of work includes drawings, paintings, collages, engravings, painted photo prints, and spatial installations. Poth draws inspiration from his travels, architecture, history, and from great thinkers, philosophers, and poets. As a result, his work is rich in historical and mythological references.
In his artistic approach, Poth often uses the technique of pastiche, combining different styles and sources. He adds layers of portraits, photographs, and cityscapes on top, which he then paints over. Some fragments are instantly recognizable, while others remain hidden beneath an enchanting surface of paint or ink.
