Guglielmo Castelli
In the fragility, there is the power of the first times, the difficult balance between the idea, the intention and the act itself.

There is more than a hint of the theatrical to be found in Guglielmo Castelli’s (1987, Italy) impelling paintings. They speak to the viewer with the distinct diction of the archetype, the fantastical amalgam of an entire culture, and the mysterious tension of the moment after some grandiose, and perhaps banal, climax—all of which are shown in their fully saturated state, not as one would encounter them on stage, but as they’d be, just behind the curtains. And they’re all the more truthful for it.
