Ulrike Rehm

Memories are as unstable and alluring as Jello.

Old narrative traditions, archetypal figures, and the symbolism and associations which are inherent to them form the basis of Ulrike Rehm's (1976, Germany) work. Her objects cause these figures to relate, not only to each other, but also to contemporary art, current social conditions and the world as a whole. Executed in a wide variety of materials, Rehm's work is never ponderous. Far from it, her work is characterized by humor, curiosity and an urge to experiment, inviting us to view the world with mildness, and reconcile ourselves with its shortcomings.
