These two little aeroplanes, shaped as if they were folded from paper, were made by German artist Ulrike Rehm (1976, Germany) in ceramics, a heavy material not exactly conducive to take-off. Lying on the darker of the planes is a bird with bound wings. The other plane bears, in the artist's own words, remnants of colored clouds after having flown through a rainbow. It was not by chance that this white sculpture was placed near 'Rainbow' by Jan Andriesse. For Rehm, the rainbow symbolizes hope and freedom.
