Thomas Rentmeister
Especially at a time in which our life in the “real world” is being increasingly replaced by internet activity and digital experiences, tactility has become something of an endangered species—a species worthy of protection.

Thomas Rentmeister (1964, Germany) is known for his large synthetic objects, cast in a single color. The odd, organic shapes and polished surfaces faintly reflect their environment. Rentmeister uses both iconic shapes from the world of consumerism as well as everyday items to generate his work. They appear alien, material and sterile while a subtle sense of humor keeps these objects near, if not within, the confines of everyday life.
