Rob Birza

The oeuvre of Rob Birza (1962, the Netherlands) is versatile: he makes paintings, installations, sculptures, and drawings. Though a first glance at his oeuvre might be confusing; playful takes on Stella’s shaped canvases and Schwitters-esque abstract compositions are alternated by colourful still lives with flowers and grand paintings depicting scenes of the Afghan war. The constant within his work could well be considered the fragile line between the abstract and figurative.
