Paula van Ameijde

Paula van Ameijde’s (1952, the Netherlands) photographs have the same personal intensity as the image seen the moment after one opens their eyes, the instance before it gathers its context, becomes woven resolutely into one’s story—frozen in that suggestive moment containing a wealth of possibilities. It’s an effect Van Ameijde manages to bring about time and again through the experimental use of both her medium and her material.
