misha de ridder

The natural landscape functions in my work as a means to make art, like a blank canvas, paint and brushes in one. Nature has a priori no intrinsic meaning, the meaning is created at the moment you start looking.

misha de ridder (1971, Netherlands) creates extraordinary work inspired by geography, light and fleeting appearances. His silent images invite thought and produce a sense of closeness and challenge us to look at our surroundings in a new, free way. The connection between what we feel and what we imagine plays an important role in de ridder's work. His photographs, captured with a camera, show us the world in a different way. They show how we are connected to our surroundings, something at once familiar and difficult to grasp.
