Michele Chiossi
Michele Chiossi’s (1970, Italy) work is an esthetical reflection on contemporary society, how we lead our lives and on the imagery flourishing within it. Though one is tempted to view his work as an extension of Pop Art, the object fulfils a fundamentally different role in Chiossi’s work. The object’s character is not defined by its unaltered cultural context, but instead by an interpreted version, filtered through the artist’s mind and perspective, with the material playing an essential role. Meaning is changed through the personal, transcending irony while commenting on life in times of globalized consumerism, with force and unabashed beauty.
