Maura Biava
I wish to evoke a sense of freedom and at the same time a sense of tradition. To connect the invisible to the visible, to raise questions on what we see.

Emanating from much of Maura Biava’s (Italy, 1970) work is a modest consciousness. Never meek her modesty is born from respect for processes of information, time and materials, operating on scales both unimaginably smaller and larger than those our senses give us access to. Through her work, the viewer is granted a place in nature as we become conscious of the fact that the complex poetry inherent in nature lies in our body too—a part connected to the wondrous whole.
