Mathieu Cherkit

The subject of the work of Mathieu Cherkit (1982, France) is his grandparents’ house where he lives. The result is an intimate look in his environment, transcending his everyday life onto the canvas. Using multiple layers of thick oil paint he creates his paintings of the various rooms in his house filled with antiques, staircases and the lush green garden surrounding the house. Using various perspectives and incorporating a mix of abstract elements he invites the viewer into his world.
