Jaap Kroneman
Jaap Kroneman (1968, the Netherlands) belongs to something of an anti-esthetical movement which emerges in the visual arts every now and then. His photographs, paintings and drawings do not aim for beauty or the esthetical. ‘Shapeless’ and ‘informal’ are words that Kroneman uses often, referring to the mundane, all but slipshod subjects and images he wishes to assign new meaning. His story is a commentary on reality, sometimes told forebodingly, and sometimes humorously.
