I wonder if the canvas can carry the weight of this heritage or should it be held up by something stronger?

Imaging that art is a playground, with all its elements thrown together as blocks in a block box. Every shape, form, design, color, material, texture, technique and context to mix and match as much as liked. To bend, stretch, tear, reorder, strip and assemble them until the blocks are no longer solid and it becomes unsure if they should be called blocks at all.

Like the myths brought through migration, images can be blurred, cut up and sewn back together, each recital making them into something new. Can the canvas carry the weight of heritage or should it be held up by something stronger? Finding new forms and shapes in new techniques always provides more than one challenge. What is the end of a painting and the beginning of something sculptural? When does surface become object?

To unravel one thread is to dismantle the whole. A patchwork of amalgamated worldviews, traditions and perspectives incompatible but interlinked regardless.
