Guido Vlottes

With just a few strokes of his brush, Guido Vlottes (1964, the Netherlands) manages to render his motif. He plays a game in which background and subject merge, or are explicitly contrasted with one another. The images his work comprises seem rather ordinary in origin, but are processed and interpreted in such a way as to remodel them into an entirely new story; a story seemingly of mythological or literary origin, yet never turned concrete. The scenes’ figures appear out of place, subsumed by the landscape in which they act.
