Franck Bragigand

My works are really paintings in a classical sense [only] I use the object rather than a canvas.
Franck Bragigand via The Washington Post, 2002

Franck Bragigand (1971, France) paints reality. Wading into our throwaway culture armed with redesign, he reinvigorates, transforms and re-contextualizes the flotsam and jetsam of ordinary households, exteriors of houses and even the urban environment in which they stand by giving them a uniform coat of paint and ‘recycling’ them as art. Bragigand’s mission is not only aesthetically informed, it is also socially engaged. Reacting to our society’s detrimental patterns of mass manufacture, mass consumption and trash culture, Bragigand mines the common ground of social awareness
