Florian Göttke

Florian Göttke (1965, Germany) makes, among other artworks, large installations with a critical but humorous undertone. The installation "Anthroprosaic" (2005-2007); a man-sized, geometric, wooden construction reminiscent of an abandoned apartment building populated by bronze miniature monkeys. Although the installation can be experienced as humorous in the first instance, it appears to be not so innocent. The alpha male sits high on the monkey rock, next to him is a gun and behind him is the head of Saddam Hussein. Elsewhere, a monkey with a gorilla mask stands up, surrounded by two masks by George W. Bush and Osama Bin Laden, respectively. With "Anthroprosaic" (2005-2007), Göttke shows how the power struggle of man, shows similarities to the power struggle of the monkey world.
