Eva Räder (1978, Germany) makes expressionistic paintings with a reduced, but rich, palette consisting mainly of varied shades of grey. The chromatic contrasts communicate a feeling of nostalgia and ambiguity. Her paintings, with subjects such as people, insects, games and landscapes all belong to the same world, a parallel world that brings the artist’s dreams, thoughts and observations into existence. With her raw imagery, Räder shows us how we convert images from the outside world into our own imagination.
