Els Timmerman

Els Timmerman’s (1946, the Netherlands) paintings and photographs are reflections on the landscape. She prefers to zoom in on the urban landscape, but the natural environment is also made a subject. Timmerman tries to capture the atmosphere of a city or nature in an image indirectly; sparkles in the water, a reflection of the city or the sky above a landscape. By leaving the context out of the picture, the works of Timmerman evoke their own mystery.
