Karin Arink

I research what the domain of the self could be; in which ways do I exist, how does the “self” relate to others, how do experiences relate to abstractions?
Karin Arink via Kastalia, 2000

Karin Arink (1967, the Netherlands) varied body of work is closely interwoven with her own existence and her relation to the other: love, openness, willingness, passion, but also doubt, the fear of passing, loss and abandonment. Arink uses and explores various media, such as cut and reworked photographs, molded, slashed and stitched sculptures, spatial drawings made with textile and sticky back plastic, video animations and texts, while always referring to a tangible kind of corporality which shows humanity’s vulnerability and helplessness.
