Christto & Andrew
Color choice to us is very important not only in terms of meaning and psychology but [also if] we think of colors as a way of adding meaning and coding within the construction of an image.

The work of Christto & Andrew (1985, Puerto Rico & 1987, South Africa) exposes the effects had by structures of history, politics, the economy, popular culture and the rigid societal norms they experience in everyday life. Their interest and criticism is rendered as not-quite-surrealist photography. Unctuous as the colors, and absurd as the subjects may be, their imagery is hardly foreign to the world of everyday life. It distils the characteristics inherent in many of the faces modern society has, while sketching an image of a future where the glossy sheen of public life has run rampant.
