Bernard Frize

Once I’ve decided how I’ll be going about a work, I just take the actual result as it comes. I can’t exactly predict the outcome of the procedure — but I would seldom, if ever, change anything once it’s done.
Bernard Frize

The paintings of Bernard Frize (1949, France) do not contain any recognisable representations: they convey the art of painting pure and simple, free of subjective elements. Frize is chiefly concerned with the tools he uses, such as the chemical composition of his paint, the types of brush, and the quality of his material. In his début period, one of his characteristics was to use brushes that were actually intended for painting boats.
