Tobias Thaens
Tobias Thaens (1999, The Netherlands) creates paintings that explore the interplay of structure and fluidity, showing how shapes and purposes constantly shift. Inspired by nature, especially animals that use camouflage like chameleons and butterflies, his works feel alive and transformative. He calls them multi-morphos: forms that seem to change or disappear, inviting us to look closer and see beyond the surface.
In these open, ambiguous worlds, nothing is fixed. Nature appears through evolving colors and textures, blending biology with poetry, science with imagination. Insects, crustaceans, and fungi appear not just as subjects but as active participants, making each scene feel both real and symbolic. Thaens invites us to enter these layered, shifting spaces and experience a more sensitive, curious way of seeing.
