Simon Morley

Through the general indistinctness of my work, I want to suggest something buried or suppressed, rising from the depths or fading away. Visually, I force a less structured kind of seeing, a semi‐blinding, such as we experience at twilight.
Simon Morley

Inheritor of the modernist tradition of the monochrome and the ready-made, as well as of conceptual art, Simon Morley (1958, Unietd Kingdom) has made writing the heart of his artistic development and theoretical reflection for a dozen years or more. Morley focuses on the interaction between words and images, as with his ‘Book of Paintings’ and ‘Label Paintings’ in which he was inspired by book covers and museum wall labels, as well as by his interest in art history.
