Monica Ragazzini
What I look for is not what an object is to me or is in itself, but how the camera renders it and gives it new meaning.
Monica Ragazzini via Art Olive
Monica Ragazzini (1967, Italy) gained renown with her series of photographs of flying clothes. Since then the artist has been working with clothes to represent ‘the skin of our time’. By portraying her subjects in a classical, yet idiosyncratic manner her photographs exhibit a strange sense of calm. Ragazzini doesn’t show time itself, but a reflection. It’s not so much a snapshot that her work offers, but a sketch of an era.
