Miguel Ybáñez
Paintings are fundamentally different to rebuses. It is not a matter of finding the key which unlocks the secret. There is no code which has to be deciphered. Abstract art is the artistic expressive form which best manages to remove itself from the limitations of form, the prescribed filling-in of space and the tyranny of time. It shows us the giddy abyss from which every concrete manifestation appears and disappears.

Miguel Ybáñez (1946, Spain) uses a wide variety of techniques and materials to make his art. His Arte Povera reaches into the common imagination, the species of memory that extends beyond the individual. In 'El Museo de Iusion', Ybáñez assembles brightly painted pieces of plywood and various objects resulting in a surprising piece of art which the viewer, nonetheless, seems to remember ever so vaguely.
