Michel Hoogervorst

The oeuvre of Michel Hoogervorst (1961, the Netherlands) consists of paintings in acrylic and alkyd paint, drawings and etchings. Using fields and lines, Hoogervorst divides the canvas into compartments, and it’s within these grids that the artist tells his story. His work often depicts understated observations of everyday objects and subjects. Sometimes one can discern some of the subject’s details, but often they’ll be abstracted into clear shapes, radiating a deep sense of calm with their monumental composition.
