Lara Schnitger
Even though a lot of my sculptures are truly dealing with form, with color, with texture — all kinds of issues that are not particularly feminist — some of my frustrations do come out as feminist in my work, and I do think now is a good time to share my frustrations and shout about it again
Lara Schnitger in an interview with Los Angeles Review of Books 2016
Lara Schnitger (Haarlem, 1969) explores the power of traditional crafts in her work. In installations, sculptures, collages and fashion, Schnitger explores the boundaries of the various media. Topics such as femininity, identity and social involvement are reflected in her work. Schnitger deliberately raises ironical questions about the stereotypes that exist about women and femininity.
