Jurriaan Molenaar
Emblematic of Jurriaan Molenaar’s (1968, the Netherlands) work are his paintings of empty spaces combined with a highly focused and precise execution. As Molenaar himself explained, he often derives his images from aerial photographs, found sometimes in books, but preferably taken by himself from a small aircraft or a hot air balloon. In doing so he consciously chooses the concentration and singularity of a painting. He has no interest in flashy or shocking images. Instead he is drawn to slow, indirect and reflective sensations—an inner vision reflected.
