Jonas Brandt
The painted wooden sculptures by Jonas Brandt (1981, Germany) seem to come from another world altogether. Both the material and colors he chose hint at a universe filled with toys. But, unlike toys, these figures seem to have a certain purpose; not some tabula rasa but beings with their own story and history. These sculptures, influenced by Romanian culture, are poetic and still in nature, and resist understanding at first glance.
