Jennifer Tee
A piece of art’s main purpose is to transcend the personal, but it’s with personal motivation that it gains depth.

Jennifer Tee (1973, the Netherlands) is a Dutch artist with Chinese-Indonesian heritage. Cultural identity is the central theme of her work—a world in which disparate cultures constantly overlap and interact. Tee's work comprises sculptures, installations, performances, photography, and collages. Central to her oeuvre is Tee’s interest in the area between reality and the realm of thought, a liminal space she calls the soul in limbo. Driven by a fascination with cultural identity, rituals, and folklore, Tee employs materials and techniques from around the world. She explores the mutability and complexity of existence, where cultures constantly overlap and interact with each other.
