Isaac Julien

We need to reflect what it is that we’re participating in. We need to look in a mirror and question what it is that we do . . . There shouldn’t be no-go areas in art.
Isaac Julien via The New York Times, 2014

Isaac Julien (1960, UK) is as acclaimed for his fluent, arresting films as his vibrant and inventive gallery installations. One of the objectives of his work is to break down the barriers that exist between different artistic disciplines, drawing from and commenting on film, dance, photography, music, theatre, painting and sculpture, and uniting them to construct a powerfully visual narrative.
